An annual observance, National Physical Fitness and Sports Month is a time to highlight the importance of staying active through sports and other fitness activities. Celebrate this observance by promoting the importance of 60 minutes per day of physical activity for kids.
Ask local fitness facilities to offer discounted memberships or free guest passes for students and families throughout the month
Be involved in sports or pick-up games at school such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball or kickball and encourage students and families to attend.
Identify youth leaders in the community who can talk to their peers about the importance of being active.
Encourage families to make small changes. Remind them that activity for just 5 or 10 minutes at a time adds up throughout the day!
Working out with others keeps you on target.
The time we devote to keep our bodies moving will reward us tenfold in happiness with the extra energy, productivity and good health we’ll enjoy for the rest of our lives.
