CHCW to host their First Annual Health and Fitness Awareness Fair, August 11th, from 10am-2pm

YAKIMA, WA – Community Health of Central Washington (CHCW) is pleased to announce it will be hosting their first annual Health and Fitness Awareness Fair. This FREE event features local doctors and medical residents, health care professionals, fitness demonstrations, healthy snacks and prizes, informational booths, inflatable obstacle course and Sumo Wrestling. All activities serve to educate the public on the growing obesity epidemic.

The health fair will take place rain or shine outside CHCW’s main campus in Yakima, at 1806 West Lincoln Avenue, on Saturday, August 11th, from 10am to 2pm. Bring the whole family and help CHCW raise awareness and promote healthy lifestyles for people of all ages while supporting strong informed families.

Why: To promote healthy and informed lifestyles for people of all ages

The event will feature 12 interactive booths, some of which include: information on skin care and sunscreen, summer weather safety, soccer, baseball, and softball skill demonstrations, mini-Zumba classes, professional jump rope champion demo and jump rope give away (to those who participate in the demonstration). There will also be a visit from Dr. Cleo the Cat from Molina.

In addition, physicians and health care professionals from Community Health of Central WA’s health care network will be on site to provide information on nutrition and diabetes prevention, detection and care. They will also be available to answer health-related questions, provide oral health information at a dental booth, and offer tips for water, bike and car seat safety. Health screenings and sports physicals will not be provided at the fair, but will be provided by CHCW at an alternative screening date. Those interested can also schedule a screening or sports physical by calling any one of CHCW’s four clinics throughout CHCW’s service area.
