The first two residents in a rural family medical residency program that, in part, had them training in Ellensburg will move on to practice in rural areas in Washington now that they’ve finished the program.
Drs. Kate Schmitz and Vaughan Bulfinch are the first to complete the residency program, offered through Community Health of Central Washington.
Bulfinch will move on to Selah Clinic, part of the Yakima Regional Medical Center system, for general outpatient family medicine and obstetrics. He’ll also do weekend inpatient coverage as an attending physician with the residency program and will be the medical director for hospice care with Yakima Regional.
